Crystex HD OT 20: It’s Applications And How To Store It

Crystex HD OT 20 is a non-blooming vulcanizing agent used for unsaturated elastomers. One of the main functionality of it is that it retards bin scorch, preventing migration of sulfur. Furthermore it also preserves surface tack. As a result you will get the improved flowability, dispersibility, non-staining and non-discoloring properties.

At vulcanization temperatures, it acts as the rubber maker's sulphur as it depolymerizes to soluble sulphur when the vulcanization temperature reaches. However if not stored under proper conditions, it can revert back to soluble sulphur as it it is a metastable product.

Crystex HD OT 20 Application And How To Store

As already discussed Crystex HD OT 20 is polymeric sulfur that is insoluble in elastomers.

It helps to retard bin scorch and limit migration of sulfur to conserve surface tack.

Crystex™ HD OT 20 is a metastable product, if not stored properly it can revert back and become soluble sulphur.

Now that you know why it is important to store Crystex HD OT 20 under proper condition, let’s discuss how to store it. Make sure to keep it in a well ventilated place with temperature below 30C. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and keep it away from the products that can emit amines such as sulfenamides and DTDM.
