Rubber Blooming

Rubber blooming refers to the phenomenon when the liquid or solid compounding agent is moved out from the inside of the rubber and gets settled on the outer surface of the rubber causing a white powder-like layer on the outer surface of the rubber.



It is a superficial phenomenon, which means it does not affect the physical properties of rubber. However, in order to make the product look good, the rubber industry tries to avoid rubber blooming.

Causes of rubber blooming

Uneven mixing results in poor dispersion

Too high temperature of the rubber compound

The vulcanization temperature is too high or too low

Different manufacturing method is used

Poor quality of raw materials.

 Rubber is the main raw material in the manufacturing of tires. Industry uses both natural and synthetic rubber for the purpose. To maintain the quality of rubber sulfur content is one of the most important parameters.  Raw rubber is a hydrocarbon in nature and is a thermoplastic.
