Sulphur Based Polymers

Sulfur-based polymers are uncommon renewable materials that have started to receive more attention in the past few years. The utilization of elemental sulfur with a variety of monomers in their preparation using the inverse vulcanization helps them with granting Sulfur-based polymers. its green nature and unique properties.

There are a few characterization techniques that can be used to evaluate the properties of sulphur based polymers. However, the complex structure and lack of solubility hinder the application of standard characterization techniques.

Evaluating the chemical, morphological, structural, thermal, rheological, and mechanical properties of sulphur-based polymer vary depending on the type of comonomer and in the reaction and during the heating treatment.

Some of the successful application of different characterization techniques:

Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

Raman Spectroscopy

Rheometer

X-Ray Diffraction (XRD)

Scanning Electron Microscopy/X-Ray Energy Dispersion (SEM-EDX)

Mechanical Tester
