Role of Insoluble sulfur in Rubber

Insoluble Sulphur is the polymeric state of Sulphur that is used in the form of a vulcanizing agent in the rubber industry. It protects the rubber compound from blooming, which is the migration of Sulphur onto the surface of the product.

This poses a huge challenge for compounders since adhesion among several components of rubber product goes for a toss.

Insoluble sulphur, by way of not migrating on the surface, aids in better tackiness among rubber components.

In radial tire, where rubber to metal bonding is required, Insoluble sulfur plays a critical role. Almost all tyre majors across the globe use insoluble sulfur in Radial tyres.
